We are a writing and interaction driven community set in Tacoma, WA! In order to ensure that everyone remains on the same page about this we're going to be very picky about who we let in as well as hold all members to certain expectations. We won't go way over the top with requirements, we understand everyone has lives and that this is a hobby and not an obligation, but we do ask that you consider your own availability and willingness to branch out before applying.

The same applies here as does every other comm: no ic/ooc blurring, treat others respectfully, no harassment of any kind (doing so will lead to your immediate removal), don't plagiarize, and do not assume that because a character is one way that the writer is that way too. Everyone's here to have a good time, so while drama in character is expected, that's where we want to keep it.

If you have any questions, comments, suggestions, or whatever else to help us make tacoma a better place, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

Applying is pretty basic here. You need an ic journal (no extra letters, numbers, or underscores), a cleared flist, backdated ic and ooc contact posts, and a few basic details about your character. Just something to touch on your concept briefly—name, age, occupation, etc are more than enough! We're not going to ask for biographies or blurbs and hope that this streamline process can help you get right into interacting and writing.

We ask for at least one scene and two written entry examples when you apply—character biographies, Instagram updates, etc are not accepted as examples. Please provide your best examples as they're the main thing applications are evaluated on. If your application is deleted it could be because you didn't provide something we required or we didn't think your examples showed you're a good fit for the community, in any other circumstance we'll comment you to fix your application. Otherwise we won't be answering questions about rejections.

Once you're accepted you will be expected to intro to chatty, our catch-all community, within 48 hours. Failure to do so will result in immediate removal.

We have a character limit of three but please consider your own availability and bandwidth before bringing in a second! If you are not active with your first it may not be a good idea to add another.

Updates here are fairly simple! Once every month we ask that you provide something written and reflective of your character's journey. Creative updates may be allowed if there is some manner of a written element to it. Even posting a finished scene to the fp counts for both you and your writing partner! Things such as basic Instagram posts, however, do not.

In addition to updates, members will be required to provide one of the following:

1. One post to our subcomm chatty with most of the comments replied to! This does not mean you can reply to each comment once and then bounce, we want to see actual conversations taking place.

2. Five threads of 7+ comments, though they cannot be comment threads with characters you typically interact with. We want to see variety! We want to see members branching out and being inclusive, regardless of who their character prefers to hang out with.

Though not a requirement, we do offer opportunities here at tacoma for our members to earn update passes! Most of us have dealt with passes in some way or another at varying communities, and the concept remains the same. Members will be offered opportunities to earn points and once you've reached ten points you may turn that into an update pass that you either use immediately or save for a rainy day!

You cannot use passes consecutively! For example: if you used one in January, you can't use another in February. Additionally, passes count for updates only. You cannot use a pass for the activity requirement.

We're always looking for new ways to add opportunities to earn passes, and we absolutely welcome members to make suggestions, though at this time we've narrowed it down to the following:

1. Members may post scenes written with others to scening (stylized however they want) for one point per scene. This is probably the best option as it counts for both an update requirement and a point!

2. Each additional written update per month may count towards one point each! This means that after you've completed your update requirement for the month, everything you write afterwards during that month counts as points towards a pass.

3. Comment 5 intro posts with a thread of 10+ comments and receive a point!

4. Comment 5 or more potential members in pbads offering lines and not dying off before anything is finalized to get one point!

5. Hosting and posting the intro for a group scene to scening will also earn you a point.

here at tacoma we're always looking for new ways to add in extra activities for our members. you'll find most of them all at gritcity—things like group scene sign ups, scene buddies, narrative collaborations, writing prompts, and so on. for specific extras outside of that, however, we have:

1. rumor for all rumors and secrets! at the start of every month we'll post a call for any rumors or secrets characters may want to share and list the results at the end of that same month. rumors/secrets will be reviewed by the mods to ensure no one breaks the ic/ooc rule.

2. match for romantic and platonic setups, general hookups, and fun interactions. we'll be setting up events as well as monthly blind dates for characters as to help foster new and interesting ways for characters to come together.

3. supporting houses all of our npcs! we will be utilizing npcs to push forward plots as well as stir up trouble on the fp.
